He is Altogether Lovely
“This is my beloved.”
—Song of Solomon 5:16
Read Song of Solomon 5:10-16.
In today’s text, the bride is actually saying that words are insufficient to describe the beauty and the strength of her beloved: “he is altogether lovely…This is my beloved, and this is my friend” (v. 16). I cannot take my eyes from Him. When I reflect upon Him I am filled with joy; I cannot say enough about Him. When I pray to Him, I experience His nearness; He takes all my cares and worries away from me, taking me up in His arms. As such, I cannot recommend Him highly enough, for He is altogether lovely.
Do you not envy those who are able to speak in this way? Seek Him now, while you are still young. And when you find Him, you will be sorry that you did not seek Him earlier.
How poor you really are when the most important things in life for you are a good career, a fancy car, clothes, money, or a beautiful home. You can only become truly rich when you come to know the Lord Jesus. Do you seek true happiness? In this world you will be unhappy. Hopefully you have learned by now that there is nothing in it that can truly satisfy. However, when you will be brought into the presence of the Lamb of God, eternal happiness will be your portion.
Try to meditate on this truth for a moment. Think of standing on the ocean’s shore of God’s eternal love! How wonderful this shall be! You will see all the redeemed of the Lord, including, perhaps, a little brother or sister which passed away as a child. The most important thing will be that you will see the Lord Jesus who has opened the way for sinners to be received into heaven. Through Him, we may go “in and out.” Christ Jesus has laid down His life for His own.
Do you long to be with the Lord Jesus?
