Working in Solitude
“I will work, and who will reverse it?”
Read Isaiah 43:12-21
What really are we able to observe about God? Does He exist? A Russian astronaut once mockingly announced that he had not come across God in outer space. But how do we know that there is a God? We know this because of His creation that surrounds us. Furthermore, the fact that the earth is upheld by Him proves His existence. Even more significantly, sinners are still being converted today.
Generally speaking, God does not work in a spectacular way, although He sometimes does, as we see in the life of Saul of Tarsus. Most often, the Lord works in a quiet, unassuming way. Outwardly, the change is hardly noticeable, for it takes place in the heart.
Sometimes the Lord must exert much labour on a sinner to bring him upon his knees. Actually, the Lord must deal with us our whole life because of our rebellion and sin. But God’s work cannot be stopped by anyone, neither by the devil nor by man. This work involves cutting, shaping and sanding so that you may be made to fit as a living stone in God’s spiritual house. Perhaps there are those who think they will never be made fit for this heavenly building. So much still has to be improved!
Has the Lord begun a work in your life? Be assured, He will then also finish the work He has begun. If you must confess that He has not made a beginning in your life, then bow before this great Builder and Maker and beg Him to work in your life today!
What does it mean that God’s work cannot be stopped?
