“Do not be careless”
So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning. —Job 42:12
Read Job 42:7-17
After Job humbled himself so deeply before God, the time came that the Lord would also restore him. Job’s friends had not spoken uprightly about the Lord, but in His righteous anger towards them, the Lord is also gracious. Forgiveness was also available to them through offerings and intercessory prayer. The same is also possible for us today, through the sacrifice and prayers of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Job’s health was restored and he was made twice as prosperous as before. His family and acquaintances visited him again. He received another ten children and the beauty of his daughters was legendary. He lived for another one hundred and forty years and was even privileged to see his great grandchildren. How true the saying became for Job: “And it shall come to pass at the eventide, that it shall be light” (Zech. 14:7). He could confess, “I have waited for the Lord and He heard my cry!” Job fought the good fight!
And now, Job sees the Lord face to face. However, we are still in the middle of the battle. Only God knows how long we must endure. Do not be careless! Do not be like Job’s friends with their pious talk, but humble yourself under the mighty hand of God so that He may exalt you in due time. Let your prayer be, “The grace Thou showest to Thy saints, that grace reveal to me.” (Psalter 290:4.)
In what is God’s care for Job displayed?
