Draw me
“Draw me, we will run after thee.” —Song of Solomon 1:4
Read Song of Solomon 1
Our theme is still “The way to Jesus.” Have you already found that way? Do you find this way difficult? Maybe you do not know the way at all. The Lord Jesus Himself is the Way; He draws people to Himself.
In previous meditations, we have seen that He makes the blind to see and reveals our sins to us. He gives us a glimpse of the Lamb of God! He revealed Himself with outstretched arms upon the cross; He is the bleeding Substitute. Moreover, He invites anyone that thirsts to go to Him (John 7:37). He sought out a great sinner, an unsuspecting Samaritan woman. He will be received as the Pearl of great price because He is the first One: “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him” (John 6:44). The writer of the Song of Solomon knew this too; God invited him to come, but he could not. Therefore, he prayed, “Draw me, we will run after thee” (v. 4). He knew that when the Lord draws, then we must come. Just think of Saul on the road to Damascus – whether he wanted to or not, he was cut down and drawn by God.
How low the Lord stoops in drawing us. Have you already seen this? The Lord is not obligated to deal with us and still He draws sinners. Go to Him and do not procrastinate; humble yourself be-fore Him! Tell Him what a great miracle it is that He is willing to have dealings with you. What a miracle that He offers Himself through His Word! You and I do not deserve this; therefore “draw me, and I will run after Thee!”
Why is it so difficult to come to the Lord?
