Moses’ Choice is Made by Faith
By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. Hebrews 11:24

Moses’ life had been spared in a wonderful way. After his mother weaned him, he went to live in Pharaoh’s court. However, he did not forget that he belonged to the people of God who resided in the land of Goshen. He had been educated and molded by the Egyptian court, but he retained his identity as a son of the people of Israel. Moses could have forsaken his people and enjoyed life as a prince in Pharaoh’s court, but he refused to be called a son of Pharaoh’s daughter, losing the riches and pleasures of this world. Instead, he cast in his lot with an enslaved people, believing that the Lord was with them and would one day deliver them.
Have you already seen how shallow and empty the riches of this world are without God? True riches lie in the personal knowledge and service of God, even when your temporal circumstances are not favourable. Have you found the true riches which are found in the grace of God? Or are you still choosing the riches of Egypt—a self-centered life without God? Outwardly this may look appealing, but it is so fleeting. Moses saw how blessed the people of God were even while they were being treated like slaves. It is imperative that the Holy Spirit opens our eyes to see how blessed it is to make choices by faith and not by sight.
