In our youth, we can often sympathize with the book of Ecclesiastes when it tells us “Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.” We are surrounded by fleeting pleasures that can draw us away from who we need to serve and what we should be doing. So when we find that temporary pleasures are vain and empty, we are reminded of Solomon’s instruction to “Remember now your creator in the days of your youth” (Ecclesiastes 12:1). Matthew Henry calls this “the royal physician’s antidote against the particular diseases of youth.”
In March’s Sermon of the Month, Dr. Ian Macleod brings us a sermon titled “A Message for the Young” from Ecclesiastes 12:1. Dr. Macleod from Hope Reformed Church of the HRC preached this sermon on January 5 of this year. He instructs us to recognize the shortness of time, rejoice in our youth, and remember now our creator. May the Lord work in us to remember His glory as Creator and King!
