One of the questions we ask a lot as humans is why. There are so many different things we think to ask why about. What we should be asking is why did God put this here in my life and how can I honour him with what is happening in my life? Psalms 9:10 says “And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord hast not forsaken them that seek thee.” Here we are told that if we seek God in prayer He will not forsake us, that is important to remember.
There is a reason for everything that God puts in our life: to strengthen us in Him, to bring us closer to Him, to show us that He cares for us and put us through what we need to be a better person in Him once we are through the struggle. We need to be able to see that God has a plan, we never can tell what that plan is as it’s God’s plan and not ours. Trusting Him is the best thing to do, His plan is the best plan that there is for your life. He doesn’t show His plans to us because then we would want to skip all the hardship and just enjoy the good parts of His plan. This doesn’t work though: the hard parts are what make us into the person God wants us to become and gives a true appreciation for the good.
I was told a quote once that applies here, “It’s worth it because it’s hard and it’s hard because it’s worth it.” The hardest things in life often are what lead to the best things. In John 13:7, we read, “Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.” With that text in mind we see that God has His perfect plan for us. Even though we don’t understand we need to trust Him and pray for strength from Him.
Psalm 5:11, says to us, “But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.” Here we’re told that God will defend us if we trust Him and that we are to be joyful and love the Lord our God. So next time you are going to ask your why about something, instead ask yourself, “why not trust God?” and let His will be done in your life and that all things work out to His honour and glory.
